All about the Yorktown Lions Club
The Yorktown Lions are dedicated to serving our local area of Yorktown and our hamlets. Our club is very active which means we’re often planning and hosting fundraisers, volunteering our time to bring joy to our community, conducting youth eye screenings, helping other organizations carry out their mission & more!
As a Yorktown Lion, you’ll get the chance to help us put on some of our signature events like our Summer Concert Series, Halloween Parade & Carnival and Easter Egg Hunt. All of these events are put on for free for the community in collaboration with the town!
More than that, you can help us fundraise year round. We put on fun events through the year to raise funds that we donate to other local organizations every year. We help give back to our local food pantries, our library, garden club, teen center, SPCA, college scholarships and the list goes on! Help us continue to make an impact right here in our very own community.
As if these reasons aren’t enough: you’ll also make connections that last a lifetime. Meet & befriend fellow Lions who all come together to live out the Lions mission of, we serve.
How can I become a member?
If you’re interested in joining us, fill out the membership form to take the next steps. From there, you’ll chat with our membership Lions who will invite you to join a general meeting. This is a great time to meet more Lions, see how we run and what we have planned. After your first meeting, you’ll also need to volunteer at two Yorktown Lions events. This is to make sure you feel that the Lions are a good fit and that you want to continue to volunteer with us!
From there, you will get approved by the board & installed into the club as an official memeber!

There is no formal time requirement for any Yorktown Lion.
We do ask that all members attend our once a month meetings as often as possible. This is where you’ll learn about what we’re doing, what requests are being made from other organizations, volunteer & event planning opportunities & more!

There are yearly membership dues for all club members. Currently, the yearly membership dues are $120, with discounts for married couples when each member is Yorktown Lion.
We also collect $5 at our monthly general meetings. This money is split between our administration fund and to go toward our clubs Lions Club International fundraising goal.
Outside of that- there are no other financial obligations! While our monthly general meetings are held at a local diner, you are not required to buy any food and drinks while there. You are also not required to pay any personal funds when it comes to putting on events or volunteering! -
We put on a lot of events and volunteer at many too! But that doesn’t mean you have to participate in everything. You can choose what interests you the most or what works best with your calendar.

The Yorktown club focuses on giving back directly to Yorktown, our hamlets and will also give back to organizations within our county, like the SPCA for example!
We also sometimes raise funds for Lions Club International Foundation. LCIF unites local Lions clubs from all over the globe to address problems or natural disasters facing al of us. You can learn more about LCIF at: https://www.lionsclubs.org/en -
Yes! We have a full board that helps our club move forward, make big decisions and continue to make connections with our community.
Every year, eligible club members are welcome to run for a board spot! We discuss running for the board, positions available and answer any questions in the late winter/early spring every year in preparation for our next year!
